GE15: Perikatan in talks with GPS, says Muhyiddin


PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional is speaking to Gabungan Parti Sarawak to form the next government, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“Premier of Sarawak YAB Tan Sri Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Abang Haji Openg and PAS President YB Tan Sri Tuan Guru Haji Abdul Hadi Awang visited me this morning to discuss the formation of the federal government,”the Perikatan chief said in a Facebook post.

He added that negotiations are being held with other parties and independents who are on the same page.

“InsyaAllah, the federal government can be formed in the near future,” he said.

Perikatan has 73 seats while GPS has 22 seats.

Muhyiddin had earlier said that Perikatan is open to working with other parties who are aligned to its principle to form a government, except for Pakatan Harapan.

Pakatan had secured 81 parliamentary seats. The coalition’s chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had claimed that Pakatan has the simple majority to form the next government.

However, he did not reveal the coalition that Pakatan could be forming an alliance with to establish a government.
