KUALA LUMPUR: Bukit Aman has opened 15 investigation papers (IPs) for various offences during the 15th General Election (GE15).

Bukit Aman GE15 Operations director Comm Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali said there were five IPs opened in Kedah, Pahang (three), Penang (two), Sarawak (two) and one each in Perak, Selangor and Johor.

"The IPs were opened under Section 324, 379 and 427 of the Penal Code, the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998 and the Election Offences Act 1954," he said in a statement on Sunday (Nov 13).

Two individuals were detained in Negri Sembilan while another was arrested in Penang on Saturday (Nov 12), he said.

"For the Penang case,we received a report where the complainant alleged he was assaulted while filling petrol for his car at Prai Garden at about 7am on Saturday.

"He alleged that he was approached by a man who berated him for lodging a report claiming that he had taken down a DAP flag.

"The suspect hit the victim's legs using a metal rod. The victim then fled the scene as the suspect had called his friends for assistance," he said.

Police also detected three "ceramah" (political talks) without permits in Melaka on Saturday, he said.

"We also issued 1,882 permits for ceramah nationwide with Sarawak recording the highest number with 303 permits followed by Johor (269), Sabah (239) and Perak (218)," Comm Hazani said.
