GE15: Batu Gajah market-goers get super surprise accompanying MCA candidate

BATU GAJAH: Market-goers here had a pleasant surprise when four "superheroes"” accompanied Tronoh’s MCA candidate Leong Chee Wai on his morning walkabout.

The four- Spiderman, Wolverine, Thor and Captain America – were seen holding Leong’s posters and mingling with the people around the wet market area.

Leong said the four were his team members dressed as the Marvel characters.

"Campaigns are always so serious, and we thought it would be fun to dress up as these characters for the walkabout.

"Since the four of them already had the costumes beforehand, we decided to have a light and easy moment," he said.

"With the four characters around, I brought laughter and smiles to their faces," he said.

Leong was facing incumbent Paul Yong’s son Bryan Yong Wu Sean (Parti Bangsa Malaysia), Steven Tiw Tee Siang (Pakatan Harapan-DAP), Roslan Ismail (Gerakan Tanah Air-Pejuang), Sin Koon Yen (Perikatan Nasional-Gerakan) and Meor Shahimudin Hasim (Independent).

Meanwhile, 67-year-old Yip Mun Chai said that people in Tronoh are looking for development.

"There is so much space for agricultural development," he said.

Similarly, 40-year-old lorry driver P. Selvaraju, 40, also said that development was also needed in Tronoh, adding that the focus had been on Seri Iskandar.

This was also agreed on by 81-year-old Lew Kin Wai, who said younger people were leaving Tronoh for other places.

"We need more factories and job opportunities here," he said.
