Peja's campaign billboard in Tambun vandalised

PETALING JAYA: A campaign billboard featuring incumbent Tambun MP Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has been vandalised.

The poster on the billboard with Ahmad Faizal’s face was left with a large gaping hole.

Ahmad Faizal's aide Natasha Amira said their team members were on their rounds when they spotted the damaged billboard, which was located at the highway exit to Sunway City in the Tambun parliamentary constituency.

"This is the first one that we have found to have been vandalised this badly.

"We will make a police report as such actions raise concern of the safety of the candidate and his team should there be other vicious attacks like this," Natasha told The Star.

Tambun is one of the most heated parliamentary seats this 15th General Election as Ahmad Faizal is up against big names such as Pakatan Harapan chairman and PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as well as Umno’s Tambun division chairman Datuk Aminuddin Hanafiah, who is standing for Barisan Nasional.

Yesterday (Nov 11), a viral TikTok belonging to Halimey Abu Bakar showed a man taking down the flags of Pakatan Harapan in front of the National Museum.

However, Halimey has come forward to explain that the appointed Election Commission agent was in fact removing party flags with which were obstructing a fence of the National Museum in the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency.

In Terengganu, Dungun district police chief Supt Baharudin Abdullah said that a 31-year old lorry driver was arrested for vandalising election paraphernalia.

The arrest of the suspected drug addict was made after a viral TikTok which showed a man burning the flags of Perikatan Nasional.

The same man was allegedly arrested for burning a Jalur Gemilang prior to this.

He is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code.
