IPOH: I am far poorer than Rafizi Ramli, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, adding that he had no problem declaring his assets.
“I am not worried about declaring my assets.
“While it is not made compulsory by the Election Commissioner (EC) to declare assets, I have no issue revealing it,” the Perak Barisan Nasional chairman told reporters after announcing the state's Barisan manifesto at Meru Raya here Tuesday (Nov 8)
Saarani said he was interested to know how much Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had instead.
"We are (waiting) in suspense for Anwar and his family since they have yet to announce their assets,” he added.
On Thursday (Nov 3), PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli declared he had RM18.85mil in net assets.
He added that by declaring them, it will instil public confidence in both elected officials and the institutions they serve should the candidate come into office.
Separately, Saarani urged political parties to stop making the 15th General Election (GE15) a platform to make jokes.
“GE15 is a serious matter, not a place to discuss whether it is ‘Ayor’ or ‘Ayaq’.
“People want to know if they have place to live, to have jobs, to have food and more.
“The people’s fate is a serious matter to me, not something we can make jokes about. This is why when we table our manifesto, we are serious about it and we know we can fulfil it,” he said.
On Oct 21, Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who will be defending his Tambun seat against Anwar, released a short video where he said that in Tambun, the locals said “ayor” for water, and not "ayaq".
Ayor is Perak slang for water while ayaq is from further north.
