From the jungle to the Big Apple: Murut man's 1930s odyssey immortalised in documentary

KOTA KINABALU: A documentary featuring a native Murut man’s journey to New York in the 1930s was launched by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) here on Friday (Oct 28).

Said to be the first Murut to set foot in New York in 1936, Saudin Labutau overcame many challenges to travel from the Borneo jungle to make it all the way to the US city some 86 years ago.
