GE15: Over 21 million eligible voters, says EC

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 21,173,638 individuals are eligible to vote in the 15th General Election, says the Election Commission.

The EC said Selangor has the highest number of eligible voters with 3,652,790 followed by Johor (2,593,562) and Perak (2,005,362).

There will also be 1,393,549 voters between the ages of 18 to 20 eligible for this election.

This is the first time in a general election that Malaysians aged 18 to 20 are allowed to vote, after Parliament passed a law to lower the minimum voting age from 21.

Nationwide, there are 20,905,366 ordinary voters.

Another 146,737 are from the armed forces (and their spouses) while 118,794 are police personnel and their spouses.

According to EC records, there are also 2,741 absent voters based overseas.

The EC has opened applications for registration for domestic and international postal voting on Oct 10.

The form can be downloaded from the EC website at https://www.spr.gov.my while the office address and information of the Returning

Officer is also available on the official portal.

Malaysians living abroad and agencies or organisations can apply online via https://myspr.spr.gov.my/login for postal voting.
