Indonesian among three arrested over Pandan Indah copper cable theft


AMPANG: Three men have been detained for allegedly stealing copper cables from the Pandan Indah Commercial Park.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said workers discovered that 4core armoured cables worth about RM20,000 were missing at about 10pm on Sept 16.

"There were also signs of a break-in," he said when contacted on Saturday (Sept 24).

Investigations led police to the arrest of three men - an Indonesian and two locals - at Jalan Gombak and Jalan Air Jerneh, Setapak at about 10.30am on Friday (Sept 23).

"We also seized several pieces of clothing and a lorry used as well as a receipt for the sale of the cables.

"One of the suspects has seven prior cases in his criminal record,” he said.

He said the suspects were believed to have targeted copper cables that were left on the doorstep of shop houses.

"The suspects will be remanded for further investigations," he said
