‘Black magic’ gang busted by CCTV footage

MELAKA: A gang of four Indonesian men, who have been using “black magic” to protect themselves during their crime sprees, have been arrested by police.

Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Christopher Patit said the four were detained in Senai, Johor, after police investigations and with the help of CCTV footage.

“The gang was busted following a series of car break-ins here. One of their criminal acts was caught on camera,” he said yesterday.

ACP Christopher said they allegedly used “spiritual verses” wrapped in stitched-up clothes when committing the robberies.

They told investigators that the black magic was meant to protect them from being detected by police.

“Intelligence gathering by the police proved to be more effective than the black magic used by the robbers,” he said.

Police also seized a mobile phone, car and paraphernalia said to be used in black magic rituals by the suspects.
