PETALING JAYA: The 15the General Election (GE15) can be held in November to avoid the floods which usually occur in December, says Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan (pic).

He said based on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s speech on Saturday (Sept 17), Umno believed GE15 would be held within the next three months.

“It is between October and December and before the floods. If floods are expected in December, don't hold (GE15) in December.

“The polls can also be done in November. If the election is in November, it means that (Parliament) has to be dissolved in October," he said as reported by Sinar Harian on Sunday (Sept 18).

On Saturday, Ismail Sabri - who is an Umno vice-president - said in his speech at the launching of Barisan Nasional Youth machinery that GE15 would be held very soon.

Ahmad also confirmed that the Umno 'Top Five' meeting on Sept 30 would go on as scheduled.

"I am sure that the Prime Minister's speech was based on the unofficial 'Top Five' meeting and negotiations.

"Actually every time before the Umno Supreme Council meeting, there will be a 'Top Five' meeting followed by a Umno political bureau meeting in the afternoon.

"The 'Top Five' often meet informally and are not publicly announced in the media.

"That does not include informal meetings of the 'Top Five' outside," he said.

The Umno's top five refers to its president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and the three vice-presidents Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and Ismail Sabri.
