Covid-19 Watch: 1,572 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 1,572 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday (Sept 17), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Sunday (Sept 18) that this brings the new total to 4,817,251 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 1,572, three are imported cases while 1,569 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 2,695 recoveries on Saturday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 26,032.

Of the active cases, 95.3% or 24,797 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while four people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 4.5% of active cases or 1,171 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 60 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 37 require ventilator support.
