UTAR Hospital will play important role in training local medical experts, says Dr Wee at fundraiser

KUALA LUMPUR: In addition to offering high-quality medical services, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Hospital will play an important role in training more local medical experts to contribute to society and the country, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said with the strong support of everyone over the years, UTAR Hospital has started operating by providing traditional Chinese medicine services since April 2022.

"Soon, conventional medical services will also be available to the public at the hospital," the Transport Minister said in a Facebook post Friday (Sept 9).

Dr Wee said he was happy to have witnessed the handing over of donations amounting to RM224,874.58 from the Alor Setar MCA division to his deputy Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon on behalf of the UTAR Hospital.

Dr Wee, who is also Ayer Hitam MP, was sharing his thoughts after officiating a fundraising event for UTAR Hospital organised by the Alor Setar MCA in Kedah, which was attended by more than 1,600 people.

He praised their efforts for raising funds for the hospital.

"Congratulations and my deepest appreciation to all MCA members in the divisions under Kedah MCA for all the hard work that has been done.

"To date, MCA has successfully raised funds exceeding RM1.2mil for the purpose of building the UTAR Hospital," he said.
