Body of drowned teen girl found in Kota Tinggi


KOTA TINGGI: The body of a teenage girl who went missing while swimming at the Tanjung Balau beach has been found here.

Bandar Penawar fire station operations commander senior officer Baharuddin Idris said her body was discovered at 2.37pm on Friday (Sept 9).

"The 13-year-old victim was confirmed dead and her body has been handed over to the police for further action,'' he said.

Baharuddin said two other teenagers were rescued by beachgoers and were taken to the Bandar Penawar Health clinic.

Baharuddin said three other victims – all 13-year-old girls – survived the ordeal.

"The operation involved 27 firemen from Bandar Penawar, Sebana Cove, Sungai Rengit, Skudai and Mersing fire stations,'' he said.

Baharuddin said the firemen were assisted by five policemen, six personnel from the Health Ministry, 11 officers from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and five personnel from the Johor Malaysia Defence Force.

The operation ended at 3.47pm.
