Two-headed turtle hatchling makes history

A TWO-headed turtle hatchling was found at the Lang Tengah Turtle Watch Conservation Project at Tanjong Jara Resort, Terengganu.

Project manager Abidah Zaaba was reported by Berita Harian as saying that the baby turtle was found during an inspection last Tuesday after the eggs in the nest had hatched.

“This is the second such discovery, and is history for us here because this two-headed baby turtle is still alive. The first one was found in June last year but it died,” she said.

Abidah said as many as 110 turtle eggs had been incubated in a nest on July 1.

“During almost two months of incubation, the baby turtles started hatching and 57, including the two-headed baby turtle, hatched safely,” she said.

She said among the other 53 eggs that failed to hatch was one with baby turtle twins.

The two-headed turtle hatchling, said Abidah, has been sent to the Turtle Conservation and Information Centre in Rantau Abang, Terengganu, as her team does not have the expertise and experience to look after such turtle hatchlings.

She added that two-headed turtles do not usually live long but they were hoping for a miracle.

Abidah said since operating there in 2016 until last month, a total of 93,660 turtle and sea turtle eggs had been successfully incubated and 66,037 turtle hatchlings successfully hatched and released into the sea.

> Actress Amelia Henderson has rubbished claims that dyeing her hair red has anything to do with a breakup, Kosmo! reported.

“Many people asked why I had dyed my hair red, and there were many published articles that gave nonsensical reasons.

“The real reason is, I wanted to try it after seeing that my hair looked lovely when I applied a filter on social media (to make it red),” the 26-year-old said in a TikTok video.

The star of the Pengantin Satu Malam drama series said since she was not tied to any acting projects in the near future, she decided to “dye my hair a little crazy red”.

“I have never dyed my hair like this other than with brown tones and highlights,” she added.

Amelia’s hair colour change prompted many to speculate that she had done it because of frustrations following her break-up with actor Aedy Ashraf.

Harian Metro reported that judge Nariman Badruddin handed down the sentence after accepting the guilty plea of Lim Chong Chee, 57, on Thursday.

According to the charge sheet, Lim was found to have hired Poomsuk Simamuang, 35, to work without a valid permit at the premises of Huolong Reflexology, Taman Kota Laksamana Jaya, on Aug 24, at about 10.30pm.

He was charged under Section 55B of the Immigration Act 1959/1963.
