KUALA LUMPUR: The decision to bring forward the tabling of Budget 2023 is not unusual as it has been done as early as September before, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

"This is normal. During Pak Lah's (former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) time, the budget was tabled in September," the Prime Minister said after the launch of the UDA Usaha Niaga Keluarga Malaysia carnival here.

When asked to confirm the new date the budget will be tabled, he merely said to wait for Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr WanJunaidi Tuanku Jaafar to announce it.

The Star reported on Friday that the tabling of Budget 2023 had been brought forward to Oct 7, three weeks ahead of the scheduled date of Oct 28.
