Najib arrives at Kuala Lumpur court complex in black SUV

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Razak arrived at the Kuala Lumpur court complex at about 8.30am on Thursday (Aug 25) for his 1Malaysia Development Bhd trial at the High Court.

This is his first appearance after being sent to prison on Tuesday (Aug 23) following the Federal Court's dismissal of his final appeal in the SRC International Sdn Bhd case.

Najib is back in the court room today for his RM2.28bil 1MDB embezzlement trial.

Najib arrived in a black SUV at about 8.26am and it was reported that he was wearing a dark blue suit.

A group of media personnel had gathered outside the complex since as early as 6.30am as they awaited his arrival.

Meanwhile, Najib's daughter said, in an Instagram post late Wednesday night, that the former premier was getting used to his new routine, which was a far cry from the usually packed schedule of "Bossku".

She also said the whole family was looking forward to meeting her father at the Kuala Lumpur court complex on Thursday.

"Thank you to the officers and guards at Kajang Prison for looking after Daddy and taking care of him," she said in her post, adding that the family appreciated the concern.

On Tuesday, Najib became the first former prime minister in the country's history to be sent to prison after the Federal Court upheld the High Court' conviction and sentence.

On July 28, 2020, the Kuala Lumpur High Court sentenced Najib to 12 years in jail and a total fine of RM210mil after being found guilty of seven charges of criminal breach of trust, money laundering and abuse of position in the RM42mil SRC International case.
