Sibu longhouse razed in dawn blaze


Residents had to flee Rumah Jungan in a hurry as the fire, which started at one end of the structure, spread quickly.

SIBU: Some 200 residents of a longhouse at Mile 26 Jalan Sibu-Selangau have been left only with the clothes on their back after the 36-door structure was razed by fire on Tuesday (Aug 23).

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said in its daily update that the fire started from one end of Rumah Jungan and spread quickly, forcing the residents to rush out.
