Man nabbed over death threat after wife files for divorce

KUALA LUMPUR: Fearing for her life, a woman who filed for divorce called the police after her husband threatened her.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said the complainant received the threat on Aug 16.

“She received a call from her husband because he was not happy that she had filed for a divorce. The suspect threatened her by saying that he would ‘make sure she dies and be disabled for life’.

“The threats frightened the complainant. The police arrested the 35-year-old husband at the Kampung Baru Air Panas people’s housing project (PPR) at 9pm on Aug 18,” he said in a statement on Friday (Aug 19).

Checks showed that the suspect, who will be remanded until Aug 22, has a prior drug related offence.

The case is being investigated for criminal intimidation.
