Tunku Abdul Rahman's eldest daughter passes away, aged 90


KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Paduka Tunku Khadijah Tunku Abdul Rahman, the eldest daughter of the nation's first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, has passed away due to cancer.

She succumbed to lung cancer at about 7pm on Monday (Aug 15) night.

Born on October 8, 1932, Tunku Khadijah was Tunku Abdul Rahman’s firstborn with his Chinese wife, Cik Meriam Chong Abdullah.

Her funeral services and prayers will be performed at Masjid Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (Aug 16).

The solat jenazah prayers (prayer for the departed) is expected to be performed immediately after the Zohor prayers.

She was laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery here at about 3 pm Tuesday.

She leaves behind three daughters, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
