Covid-19 Watch: 2,728 new cases, says Health Ministry


PETALING JAYA: Malaysia recorded 2,728 new Covid-19 infections on Sunday (Aug 7), says the Health Ministry.

The Health Ministry said through data released on its CovidNow portal on Monday (Aug 8) that this brings the new total to 4,708,552 cases since the pandemic began.

Of the 2,728, two are imported cases while 2,726 are local.

The CovidNow portal also said that there were 3,856 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of active cases in Malaysia to 45,770.

Of the active cases, 96.5% or 44,159 individuals are undergoing home quarantine, while 30 or 0.1% people are being treated at low-risk quarantine and treatment centres (PKRC).

Only 3.3% of active cases or 1,529 individuals needed to be hospitalised, with 52 warded in intensive care units (ICU) throughout the country.

Of that number, 36 require ventilator support.
