KAJANG: Businesswoman Farah Hani Filzah sent her father to the KTM Kajang station on Monday, and tragically, it was the last time she saw him alive.“Usually, he would take the ETS from Ipoh to Kajang to commute home (from his workplace).”
But last week, her father told her that she need not pick him up as he planned to drive home himself.
“I didn’t expect it at all (his death),” said Farah Hani, 25, of the man whom her family described as a “humble, easygoing and loving father”.
As her family sat down for dinner that night, they received news that their loved one – flight instructor father, Mejar (retired) Fajim Juffa Mustafa Kamal – was involved in a light aircraft accident in Ipoh.
The family immediately went to Ipoh. However, Fajim Juffa, 52, succumbed to his injuries.
Fajim Juffa left behind two dependents, his wife Hayati Nawi, 48, and daughter Fatini Nadia Qistina, 17, and two other daughters.
Fortunately, his Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) contributions would be of help.
Yesterday, Perkeso chief executive Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed visited the family and delivered the benefits to his dependents.
Farah Hani received the contributions on behalf of the family.
Speaking to the media, Prihatin and Synergy squad head of branch Ismail Abi Hashim said the Perkeso Prihatin squad acted immediately after receiving news that the flight instructor was involved in an accident.
“As the accident happened during night flight training, the deceased’s contributions were processed under the Employees Social Security Act.
“His family was also given a one-off funeral management benefit of RM2,000 on Wednesday, while the dependent’s monthly benefit of RM3,555 will be given to his wife and daughter Fatini Nadia until she reaches 21 or finishes her first degree,” he said.
It is understood that Perkeso would also be financing Fatini Nadia’s tuition fees to pursue her education after Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia.
“I’m very grateful as I didn’t expect to be receiving such aid from Perkeso,” said Fatini Nadia.
This had given her a boost in chasing her dreams, she said, noting that she had wanted to pursue culinary training but her father had wanted her to become a pilot.
Her father, Fajim Juffa, became a flight instructor for a private aviation company in 2018 after his retirement from the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
On Monday, the two-seater Piper 28-161 Warrior Fajim Juffa was flying crashed into a ditch.
Prior to that, the aircraft had taken off at 8pm and shortly afterwards, the Ipoh air traffic control tower received a “May Day” (emergency) call from the pilot at 8.07pm.
