Gobi Krishnan urges Bersatu leaders to step in over his sacking

PETALING JAYA: S. Gobi Krishnan, who was reportedly sacked from his position in Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), has urged the party president and leadership to step in over the issue of his removal.

Gobi Krishnan, who is the associate members' wing information chief, also continued to slam the newly appointed associate member’s wing leader, Dr Chong Fat Full, over his sacking.

“I urge the president and leadership council to intervene by suspending Dr Chong temporarily from his duties before he causes even more trouble for the party.

“This is needed, especially since party grassroots nationwide are increasingly questioning Dr Chong’s actions which seem to be opposing the party’s constitution,” said Gobi Krishnan in a statement on Saturday (Aug 6).

Chong was appointed on Tuesday (Aug 2), succeeding Segamat MP Datuk Seri Dr Edmund Santhara Kumar who resigned from the position last month.

Santhara was the first non-bumiputra MP to join Bersatu in August 2020.

It was reported that Dr Chong had confirmed that Gobi Krishnan was removed from all positions in the party, after the wing discovered the latter was declared bankrupt on Jan 7 last year.

“This move also fails to show exemplary leadership, which should seek to unite and not divide.

“This is important since Bersatu, together with Perikatan Nasional, will be facing the general election soon,” Gobi Krishnan added.

He said he would continue his duties as usual as the associate members’ wing information chief, and will meet with grassroot members, as well as accept new memberships.

“Next week, I will file an official complaint against Dr Chong to the president, secretary-general and disciplinary board for his actions that have gone against them and for overstepping his powers by breaching the party constitution.

“I hope the party will take stern action against Dr Chong immediately for the benefit of the wing and the party,” he said.
