Former DBKL excise licensing board member seeks meeting with minister over dismissal

PETALING JAYA: S. Gobi Krishnan who was recently removed from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL)'s excise licensing board is seeking a meeting with Datuk Dr Seri Shahidan Kassim.

Gobi, who was also recently sacked as Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) associate members' wing information chief, said he was seeking a meeting with the Federal Territories Minister to clarify the reasons leading to his removal.

"While it is the prerogative of the minister to appoint or cancel appointments I take it as another continuous action by Barisan Nasional to relieve Perikatan Nasional members from government-linked companies," claimed Gobi in a statement on Wednesday (Aug 10).

"I believed the minister was ill-advised by the ministry and DBKL on the matter.

"I am reluctant to speak further about the purported bankruptcy matter as it is still in the courts," added Gobi.

Shahidan in a statement on Wednesday said that following a check with the Insolvency Department on Aug 3, it was confirmed that Gobi had been declared bankrupt and has since been removed from the board.

He said Gobi's appointment however for the period July 2021 to Aug 3 was valid and did not contravene any laws and regulations.

This was following Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng who had asked Shahidan to explain the appointment of a bankrupt individual to the DBKL excise board.
