PUTRAJAYA: Embracing the spirit of the Malaysian Family will ensure that the country and the people can weather any storm and challenges that come along, says the Prime Minister.
Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the National Day is held in remembrance of the struggle for independence that Malaysians enjoy today.

“We may be independent now but there are other challenges that can threaten the harmonious relationship that we have been enjoying all the while,” he said.
The Prime Minister said the fight against Covid-19 pandemic which saw the people come together and play their part to break the chain of infection was proof of how united Malaysians are.

“By embracing the Malaysian Family concept, particularly by staying together and united, can we prosper the lives of the people during this global economic uncertainty” he said when launching the National Day month celebration on Saturday (July 30).
The theme for this year’s National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations is “Keluarga Malaysia Teguh Bersama”.

The National Day will be celebrated in Dataran Merdeka - the first time since 2018 - which saw the federal administrative capital hosting the event for two years before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.
A low-key National Day celebration was held last year in Dataran Pahlawan here while the celebration was not held in 2020 at the height of the pandemic.
Ismail Sabri said if Malaysians continue to come together, no elements can be a threat to unity.
“If sticks are tied together, it will be hard to break. That is how strong we are if we are united,” he said.
Ismail Sabri said the National Day celebration serves as an opportune time for the people to express their love for the country.
“I hope to see everyone fly the Jalur Gemilang at homes, shops, offices to show how much they love Malaysia,” he said.
The Prime Minister said another way of showing one’s love for the country is to practise good values, by working together and practising tolerance.
Earlier, Ismail Sabri participated in a 2.7km walk from Dataran Putra to the Palace of Justice.
