KOTA BARU: Malaysia's inflation rate is the lowest in South-East Asia due to government efforts, says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Prime Minister said this is due to the government continuing to provide subsidies amounting to RM77mil.

Speaking at the opening of the Kelantan Malaysian Family Aspirations (AKM) Tour here on Saturday (July 23), Ismail Sabri added that "Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia" is the largest cash aid in the nation's history with an allocation of RM8.2bil.

He also said that the Malaysian Family concept is not just rhetoric as the well-being and interests of the people continue to be preserved.

On Kelantan, Ismail Sabri said that the government is continuing to pay attention to the poverty rate in Kelantan, allocating RM124mil to 590,000 Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia recipients.

He also said that the Rural Development Ministry is allocating RM2.6bil for 88 projects in Kelantan, 64 of them extension projects and 24 new ones.

Ismail Sabri added that Tok Bali is targeted to become Kelantan's new growth centre, and will contribute RM2.3bil in investment and generate 4,200 job opportunities.

He then said that the Sultan Ismail Petra Airport is undergoing upgrading that will end in 2025, adding that this can boost the airport to be able to handle four million passengers.

This is an increase from the current 1.5 million - Bernama
