ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor MCA deputy chairman Datuk Lim Pay Hen (pic) has been picked for the post of a senator by the state assembly.
The motion to recommend Lim for the senator’s post for three years was tabled by Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
It was seconded by Buloh Kasap assemblyman Datuk Zahari Sarip.
“Lim has been an active MCA leader for many years and has vast experience. He is also deeply respected by the people of Johor for his active participation in various non-governmental organisations,” said Onn Hafiz after proposing Lim’s name for the post during the assembly yesterday.
Lim, 65, had previously served as a senator for three years from 2017.
In a statement, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong congratulated Lim on his selection as senator by the Johor state assembly.
“I am confident that he would be able to shoulder the trust given to him for the benefit of the people and country, especially those in Johor.
“I would also like to thank Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi for giving the trust to Lim to become a member of the Dewan Negara and to serve the people of Johor of all races,” he said in a Facebook post.
