Kadazan lass wins national level Chinese calligraphy competition

KOTA KINABALU: Maybelle Meryl Maurice is a Year Five pupil from a mostly native Kadazan family background, who recently emerged first in a Chinese calligraphy competition held online nationwide.

Despite being just a quarter Chinese (her mother is of native Kadazan and Chinese parentage while her father, a Kadazan), it did not stop her from falling in love with the language and also doing well in the subject.
