Dr Wee: Skypark Link ridership to hit 3,000 a day next year

PETALING JAYA: The Skypark Link at the Subang Skypark Terminal is expected to hit a daily ridership of 3,000 next year, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The Transport Minister said this is compared to average daily usage of 266 from January to March 2020, before the first movement control order.

"The ridership target by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will benefit students of higher institutions, private sector workers, tourists and those commuting between KL Sentral and Subang which will also benefit residents in the vicinity," Dr Wee said on Facebook on Thursday (June 9).

He had earlier launched Subang Skypark Link Terminal service where he announced a reduction in fares of 65%, from RM10 to RM3.50.

He also announced a concession discount of 50% to those who are eligible for the new rates.

"The new rates which are in line with the KTM sector of the Klang Valley, are more competitive and people-friendly (and) will improve the quality of rail service apart from reducing the burden of transport cost.

"This is not all, as KTMB has improved the service schedule by increasing the train frequency from 25 to 32 a day," he added.

Dr Wee thanked KTMB and public transport service operators such as Prasarana Malaysia Berhad, RapidKL, RapidBas and MRT Corp Sdn Bhd.

"All of them played an important role in creating an integrated travel system by improving and upgrading seamless public transport for the benefit and convenience of Keluarga Malaysia," he said.

Information and the latest schedules can be obtained at www.ktmb.com.my or through the KTMB call centre at 03-22671200.

Also present at the ceremony were KTMB chief executive officer Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin, Land Public Transport Agency director-general Datuk Azlan Shah Al Bakri and Rail Asset Corporation general manager Adam Abu Hanipah.
