Honouring compassionate Malaysians driving change

PETALING JAYA: From supporting vulnerable families and expanding educational opportunities to providing relief in times of crisis and protecting Malaysia’s natural heritage, more than 120 changemakers have been recognised by the Star Golden Hearts Award (SGHA) since its inception in 2015.

Spanning the four core pillars of Social Welfare, Community Empowerment and Education, Disaster and Crisis Relief, and Environment and Wildlife, these everyday Malaysians have demonstrated how compassion, commitment and collective action can improve lives.

The recognition also reflects that their dedication to helping others has made a meaningful difference in communities across Malaysia.

Annually, the public are invited to nominate exemplary individuals and social organisations deserving of recognition for their selfless work.

A panel of distinguished judges, composed of experts across multiple fields, evaluates eligible nominees based on their impact, originality, sustainability, leadership and personal involvement in driving change.

Beyond recognition, each of the 10 annual winners receives RM10,000 in cash, a trophy and a certificate, alongside media exposure across Star Media Group’s (SMG) platforms to raise awareness of their causes and help their work reach more people.

Today, SGHA has built a network of over 500 changemakers united by a shared commitment to making life better for others.

By telling the stories of these unsung heroes, SMG honours their efforts, gives greater visibility to the causes they champion and inspires more Malaysians to make a difference in their own communities.
