PKR polls: Team Rafizi takes Negri, winning in seven of eight divisions


SEREMBAN: Seven of the eight PKR divisions in Negri Sembilan want Rafizi Ramli as party deputy president.

The former Pandan MP won in Jelebu, Jempol, Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Rembau, Port Dickson and Tampin, receiving 5,522 votes while Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who only managed to bag Rasah, secured 2,559 votes.

State PKR chief Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun, who is also state Mentri Besar, also won the top spot in the Port Dickson division in a four-cornered fight.

Aminudidn, who was previously in the Tampin division, polled 1,129 votes while incumbent Datuk M. Ravi, who is also Seri Tanjung assemblyman and state assembly Deputy Speaker, got 951.

Two others who contested for the post, B. Sevalingam and Datuk Halim Khomiza, received 477 and 109 votes, respectively.

The other hotly contested division was Seremban where state PKR secretary Muhammad Nazri Kassim sprang a suprise by beating Ampangan assemblyman and state Investment, Industrialisation, Entrepreneurship, Education and Human Capital Committee chairman Datuk Dr Mohamad Rafie Ab Malek in a straight fight.

Nazri got 771 votes while Rafie received 676.

In Rasah, incumbent division chief Datuk Ismail Ahamd retained his post in a three-cornered fight.

Ismail, who is also state Rural Development Committee chairman, received 413 votes while his challengers Azhar Muhammed Kassim and A. Murugeson got 167 and 155 votes, respectively.
