Burning car on Penang Bridge causes massive jam

GEORGE TOWN: A car has caught fire at KM7.8 of the Penang Bridge, causing a massive traffic jam here on Friday (May 20).

PLUS tweeted that the 4.47pm accident at KM7.8 of the bridge island-bound, worsened evening rush-hour traffic.

The incident also closed off the left lane of the bridge for more than one hour.

Although the wreckage at the bridge was cleared at about 7pm, traffic was still slow-moving.

Based on a video clip recorded by a passer-by, there were three vehicles involved in an accident but only one burst into flames.

Motorists heading to the island are advised to be aware of slow-moving traffic and possible debris on the road.
