Major catastrophe averted in time

Midnight fire: Firemen carrying out the 10-hour fire-fighting operation on the Endau bridge after four deep sea fishing vessels below the bridge caught fire.

MERSING: Local residents here rushed to grab as much laundry detergent as they could find at home to help firemen douse raging flames after four deep-sea fishing boats caught fire below the Endau bridge that links Johor and Pahang.

The fire resulted in the major road link between the two states being temporarily cut off for about five hours.
