KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s Covid-19 cases remain at a worrying level with 446 new cases recorded on Wednesday (Feb 2), says state Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (pic).
He said although the figure showed a slight drop from Tuesday’s (Feb 1) 490 cases, the numbers were still concerning.
“Most of these cases are detected through symptomatic screenings,” he said, adding that the presence of the virus in the community made it difficult for contact tracing.
He said this also made it easier for the virus to spread.
Masidi said Kota Kinabalu recorded the most new daily cases (87), followed by Sandakan (67), Tuaran (49), Penampang (45), Tawau (42), Papar (29) and Ranau (23).
Out of the total new cases on Wednesday, 440 were in Category 1 and 2 with the rest in Category 3 and 4.
No new cluster was detected on Wednesday, Masidi added.
