Thaipusam: 1,300 enforcement personnel members to be deployed during festival in Penang to ensure SOP compliance

GEORGE TOWN: A total of 1,300 enforcement personnel members including police, Federal Reserve Unit, Rela, Civil Defence and Penang Island City Council will monitor the three-day Thaipusam celebration in Penang.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Soffian Santong said about 140 policemen would follow the golden and silver chariot processions to ensure compliance during its journey to the Sree Balathandayuthapani Waterfall Hilltop Temple and Waterfall Nattukotai Chettiar Temple on the Jan 17th at 6am and return journey on Jan 19th.
