Flood victims in Pitas and Kota Marudu receive RM1,000 aid

KOTA KINABALU: The state government has started giving out the RM1,000 flood aid to victims in Pitas and Kota Marudu districts.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor on Wednesday (Jan 5) paid a visit to several temporary shelters in the two districts and handed over the financial aid to 226 households (94 in Pitas and 132 in Kota Marudu).

He also called on the authorities in charge of floods such as the district natural disaster committee to provide the government with details of the floods and damages so that action could be taken to assist the victims.

"This is for us to take follow up actions as soon as possible," he said.

The monsoon flood disaster management task force special meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yakoob recently decided that among the aid for flood victims would include a RM1,000 cash per household in the temporary shelters.

Others include RM10, 000 for families of deceased, incentives to purchase necessities, vouchers to repair vehicles and funds to repair damaged homes.
