Floods: 632 families of police affected in Selangor

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor floods have affected 632 families of members of the police force.

Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Comm Datuk Ramli Din said most of the policemen and civilian personnel affected were stationed at the Shah Alam and Kajang police headquarters.

"Their families and homes were badly affected and they still have to perform their duties," he said during a flood relief donation ceremony at state police headquarters here on Monday (Dec 27).

Fifteen tonnes of rice and clothes were donated to the police, and Comm Ramli said these would be distributed to those in need as soon as possible.

"This is for victims, from members of the police force and the public. As many are still in evacuation centres we aim to distribute the aid when they return home because that’s when they will need it most," he said.

On crime prevention patrols to prevent further looting, Comm Ramli said these are being conducted in badly-hit areas such as Sri Muda.

"Police are monitoring the premises and houses left (vacant)," he said, adding that vigilance against looting would be emphasised in any future occurrences of flooding.
