KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) has announced the appointment of Khairdzir Md Yunus (pic) as its new editor-in-chief, effective Friday (Dec 24).
Khairdzir, 59, who holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a Bachelor’s degree in Population Studies from Universiti Malaya, has been with Bernama for 36 years.
He has served in various capacities including as the Kedah bureau chief, correspondent in Indonesia and chief sub-editor.
He was the deputy editor-in-chief (Business and Finance Services) prior to the current appointment, which was announced by Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datuk Mokhtar Hussain.
Khairdzir takes over as editor-in-chief from Abdul Rahman Ahmad who completed his contract of service earlier this month following his mandatory retirement a year ago.
Mokhtar also announced the appointment of Bernama head of broadcasting (TV and Radio) Roslan Ariffin to succeed Khairdzir as the deputy editor-in-chief (Business and Finance Services).
Graduated from Mara Institute of Technology (now known as Universiti Teknologi Mara) in 1991, Roslan, 55, has earlier also served as Head of Programme Bernama TV and as Executive Editor, News Services in 2018. - Bernama
