KOTA KINABALU: The people of Sabah have been reminded by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to focus on values and strengths that unite them instead of things that create division.
He said the season of Christmas should act as a unifying factor, instead of the opposite.
“I hope we can use this season to renew our unity, religious tolerance and mutual respect for one another regardless of race and religion,” he said in his Christmas Day message on Thursday (Dec 23).
He also called on Sabahans to preserve peace and harmony so that the state government can continue bringing in more investors for the development of the people and the state.
Earlier, Hajiji mentioned the work done by the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah-led state government, including launching the Sabah Maju Jaya initiative, the Commercial Collaboration Agreement with Petronas, and the setting up of the state’s own oil and gas company, SMJ Petroleum Sdn Bhd.
He said with the Bill to amend the Federal Constitution to be in line with the provisions of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) passed, Sabah is expected to see better days ahead for its socioeconomic growth as well.
“We will continue to work towards bringing more development to the people of Sabah, amid our challenges during this pandemic,” he said.
