PETALING JAYA: No new Covid-19 cases have been detected at flood evacuation centres on Thursday (Dec 23), says Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Health director-general said that the number of Covid-19 cases detected amongst flood victims remained at 390.
He added that 180 infectious diseases had been identified among victims, with 80 Acute Respiratory Infection cases detected.
On the issue of a child found in a weakened state in Taman Sri Muda, Dr Noor Hisham said that the child began throwing up on Dec 22.
“The father called 999 at 10pm then and they were taken to the frontline clinic in Taman Sri Muda. The child was then sent to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang for treatment,” he said, adding that the child’s two siblings were treated at the frontline clinic and sent back to be with their parents.
He said the child, aged one year and 11 months, was sent to the red triage area because the child was dehydrated and subsequently placed on an intravenous drip.
“The diagnosis was Acute Gastroenteritis (AGE) with 5% dehydration. Investigations showed that the cause of the disease was due to the consumption of spoiled food. No issues of a late response occurred in this case,” he said.
On current Covid-19 statistics, he said that all states recorded infectivity rate (R-nought) values of below 1.0.
The national rate is currently at 0.91.
The country recorded 3,510 new Covid-19 cases, with 4,998 recoveries on Thursday.
Of the new infections, 59 cases were in Categories 3, 4 and 5.
