25 people seek shelter at relief centre after Batu Pahat flash flood


JOHOR BARU: Following a flash flood, 25 people from four families are seeking temporary shelter at a flood relief centre in Batu Pahat as of 8am on Monday (Dec 6).

State health and environment committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said one relief centre was set up for those affected at Pusat Latihan Pemimpin Muda (Pulapem) on Sunday night (Dec 5).

“Water level was rising to about 3m by 9pm on Sunday.

“This has affected several houses at Kampung Sungai Kluang Laut.

“All affected flood victims have been sent to the flood relief centre,” he said in a statement on Monday (Dec 6).
