JOHOR BARU: Police have seized more than RM200,000 worth of drugs in a series of raids here.
State narcotics chief Asst Comm Mohd Afzanizam Yahaya said the raids were carried out at several premises in Skudai, Iskandar Puteri and in the city area, between 11.30am and midnight on Nov 24.
He said during the raids, two suspects, aged 27 and 34, were arrested.
“We seized an assortment of drugs such as ganja, heroin, ecstasy powder and pills worth RM229,670.
“One of the suspects tested positive for drugs and also has a previous record for drugs as well,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 30).
ACP Mohd Afzanizam said the suspects led police to a gated and guarded residential area where the syndicate rented a house to store and package the drugs.
“The syndicate has been active in trafficking drugs since early July this year,” he said, adding that the drugs could cater to 83,106 addicts.
ACP Mohd Afzanizam said besides the drugs, police also seized three motorcycles, two cars, RM2,664 in cash and S$146 (RM449.50) from the suspects.
The suspects have been remanded until Wednesday (Dec 1) to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the mandatory death sentence.
