On alert as floods hit Penang, Kedah

GEORGE TOWN: Floods inundated several low-lying areas here following non-stop rain while in Kedah, more than 200 residents in two districts were evacuated to relief centres.

According to Penang welfare and environment committee chairman Phee Boon Poh, Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Perak, Kampung Masjid, Kampung Makam and Kampung Masjid Hashim Yahya in Datuk Keramat were among the areas affected after rain fell non-stop since midnight on Thursday.
