ABOUT 3,000 inmates at the Tapah Prison received some Deepavali cheer in the form of traditional candy and snacks from Datuk Seri M. Saravanan, Makkal Osai reported.

The Human Resources Minister, who is also the Tapah MP, arranged for the gifts to show they were not forgotten, district MIC chairman Krishna Rao said.

Krishna handed over the goodies to prison director Faisal Mohamed Noor.

While they were not able to meet with the prisoners due to Covid-19-related restrictions, they hoped the candy brought some cheer to the inmates, he said.

> The daily also reported that the Malaysian Indian Youth Council (MIYC) will collaborate with Infrastructure University Kuala Lumpur (IUKL) to provide more education opportunities to secondary school leavers.

MIYC education secretariat chief Gobinath Nadarajan said the memorandum of understanding signed with IUKL would be followed by a tertiary education plan to guide students to the right courses.

There were opportunities available in various engineering, architecture, accounting, management and other fields at the university.

Students who are looking to pursue diploma, degree and master courses at IUKL can approach MIYC for guidance, he said.

IUKL student adviser Yuthishthiran Perumal said the courses could provide better opportunities for the students.
