Eleven arrested for drink-driving during KL traffic ops


KUALA LUMPUR: Eleven drivers under the influence of alcohol were arrested during traffic operations by city police.

City Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Asst Comm Sarifudin Mohd Salleh, in a statement Sunday (Oct 17), said that a two-day road operation over the weekend was conducted in selected areas in Kuala Lumpur, including Jalan Bangsar and Jalan Tun Razak.

"All 11 were then brought to the Kuala Lumpur Traffic police station and will be charged for driving under the influence of alcohol," he said.

The road operations also saw the arrest of five mat rempit, aged between 15 and 22, after they were caught performing dangerous stunts on their motorcycles.

A total of 358 summonses were issued for various offences.
