Covid-19: Number of recoveries higher than new infections on Wednesday (Oct 13)

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded 10,832 recoveries as compared to 7,950 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday (Oct 13).

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the new infections, 7,921 of them were local cases while the remaining 29 were imported.

"A total of 725 cases are being treated at intensive care units, comprising 710 Covid-19 cases with 15 suspected and under investigation cases.

"The latest recoveries bring the cumulative number to 2,227,889," he said in a statement.

Dr Noor Hisham said of the new Covid-19 cases, 133 of them were under Category 3, 4 and 5 while the remaining 7,817 cases or 98.3% were Category 1 and 2.

He also said 13 new clusters were detected, bringing the total number of active clusters to 762.

"The new clusters were in Selangor, Melaka, Kedah, Sarawak, Pahang and Negri Sembilan.

"Six of these clusters were workplaces and three related to the community," he said, adding that one cluster was linked to a private learning institute and another involved education.

The two remaining ones were high risk and a detention centre cluster.
