Covid-19: 89.7% of Malaysia’s adults fully vaccinated, just 0.3 percentage points short before interstate travel allowed


KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): A total of 21,003,074 individuals or 89.7% of the adult population in the country have completed their Covid-19 vaccination as of Saturday (Oct 9), just 0.3 percentage points short of the targeted 90%.

Based on the Health Ministry data on the CovidNow portal on Sunday (Oct 10), 94.7% or 22,176,018 individuals of the adult population have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

A total of 83,443 doses of the vaccine were dispensed yesterday with 8,236 as first dose and 75,207 as second dose, bringing the total number of doses administered under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) to 43,067,793.

Meanwhile, 6.5% or 204,536 of adolescents aged between 12 and 17 have completed their vaccination and 71.5% or 2,248,867 teenagers have received at least one dose of the vaccine,

On Sept 22, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said interstate travel would resume when 90% of the adult population in Malaysia have been fully vaccinated. - Bernama
