State budget preparations foremost on Perak administration's minds, says MB

IPOH: The Perak government remains stable and is making preparations for the state budget, says Mentri Besar Datuk Saarani Mohamad(pic).

Asked to comment on the developing political situation in Melaka and if the same could reoccur in Perak, he said: "Hopefully such a thing does not happen in Perak. The state government here is stable and we are making arrangements for the state budget for the next assembly sitting.

"I have met with all assemblymen, including from the Opposition, to seek their views and input for the coming budget.

"Our focus is to ensure economic recovery and to look into the welfare of those affected."

The Opposition assemblymen's views would also be taken into consideration but not all their requests might be fulfilled owing to financial constraints and other factors, he also told reporters after visiting a vaccination centre for teenagers at SM Izzuddin Shah on Tuesday (Oct 5).

Four state assemblymen in Melaka recently declared they had lost confidence in Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali's leadership and had withdrawn support for him.

On Dec 4, former Perak mentri besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu lost a motion of confidence in the state assembly and resigned the next day.

Saarani was appointed Ahmad Faizal's successor.

Commenting on the Melaka situation, Saarani said he was unsure what caused the withdrawal of support for Sulaiman and it was now up to Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Ali Rustam to make a decision.
