ISKANDAR PUTERI: Other state governments with a slim majority may fall like the Melaka government, says Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad.

“This issue can happen in any other states, and I do not rule out the possibility of it happening here in Johor.

“But at the present moment, there is no problem in Johor,” he said when met after launching the Jauhar Child Care at Kota Iskandar here on Tuesday (Oct 5).

Hasni’s administration is currently holding the state with a simple majority, with only 29 seats against Pakatan Harapan's 27.

The state government consists of Umno (14), MIC (two), PAS (one) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (12), while the Opposition consists of DAP (14), Amanah (six) and PKR (seven).

During the opening of the state assembly on Aug 12, Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar warned that he would not hesitate to dissolve the Johor assembly if assemblymen continue to engage in power struggles and threaten the state government.

“I will not entertain any political games by assemblymen and risk destabilising my state and government. If that occurs, then I will not hesitate to dissolve the state assembly.

“We don’t need politicians to represent the people if all they think about is themselves and not the interests and welfare of the rakyat,” His Majesty said.
