Expectant mum goes into premature labour in restaurant toilet, baby dies

KLANG: It was an outing that turned into tragedy for a 37-year-old expectant mother, who had gone for a seafood treat at a restaurant in Sekinchan.

The woman who had gone to the restaurant toilet to ease herself ended-up going into premature labour with her newborn infant slipping into the toilet bowl.

According to a Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, the incident happened at about 4pm at the Abah Bonda Ikan Bakar eatery in Parit 7, Sekinchan.

"Firemen managed to retrieve the baby by breaking open the toilet bowl," said the spokesman.

Unfortunately, the baby was declared dead by medical personnel.

The mother, meanwhile, was sent to the Tanjung Karang Hospital by ambulance.

The nearby fire station received the distress call at 6.03pm and arrived at the scene of the incident within three minutes.

Nine firemen from the Sekinchan Fire Station had gone to the eatery for the rescue mission.
