Motorcyclist dies after falling from flyover in JB accident

JOHOR BARU: A 21-year-old man died after falling six metres from the Eastern Dispersal Link (EDL) expressway flyover at KM4 here heading towards Pandan.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said that the incident occurred around 11.20am on Friday (Sept 24) morning when the victim was riding his motorcycle while his 19-year-old brother was his pillion.

“According to initial investigations, it is believed that the victim had lost control of his motorcycle where it skidded before hitting a concrete wall at the scene.

“The impact caused him to fall from the EDL resulting in severe head injuries and he died at the scene while the brother only sustained minor injuries,” ACP Raub added.

He said the victims were on their way home to Pasir Gudang after the younger brother received his Covid-19 vaccination jab prior to the accident.

He added that the victim’s body was sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a post-mortem while his brother was also sent to the same hospital for outpatient treatment.

ACP Raub said the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
